YOU ARE THE LOVE OF MY LIFE

Book ID/图书代码: 02330010B42725

English Summary/英文概要: The story of a young single mother who returns, during the Nixon era, to live in the house where, at twelve, she discovered her father had hanged himself; at the same time, she must confront her own secrets that threaten to destroy her daughter.

This novel tells the story of Lucy Painter, an eccentric, creative, independent soul, an artist with a married boyfriend but no husband; two children; a sensibility haunted by the long-ago suicide of her somewhat distant father.

During the course of the novel, she brings her family back to Washington DC, the city of her own childhood, where they are dragged into the intense social scene and community of families on one particular block, much to Lucy’s dismay and her daughter’s delight. Lucy finds herself fighting for the loyalty of her own daughter, who rebels as she instinctively understands that Lucy is keeping vital information secret.

Secrets, actually, are the backbone of this book, Lucy’s secrets, the neighbors’ various secrets, her child’s secrets. AGENT: UK, Translation, 1st serial. PUBLISHER: Audio.
