About the Author/作者介绍： 半個世紀前憑藉首部作品《薑人》出名的J. P. Donleavy，現在在愛爾蘭還是一個位文學知名人物。Donleavy的第一本書《薑人》1955年出版。隨後還出版了《A Singular Man》（1963） 《The Saddest Summer of Samuel S》（1966），《The Beastly Beatitudes of Balthazar B》（1968）《The Onion Eaters》（1971）,《A Fairy Tale of New York》（1973）。他的短篇小說集《Meet My Maker the Mad Molecule》1964年出版。《薑人》和《Fairy Tales of New York》、《A Singular Man》和《The Saddest Summer of Samuel S》都被改成電影或舞臺劇，在倫敦和紐約上演。他的新書《The Unexpurgated Code: A Complete Manual of Survival and Manners》將於今年夏天出版。

J P Donleavy has written eleven novels, a book of short pieces and two novellas. He has had many exhibitions for his watercolours and paintings. He lives in Co Westmeath, Ireland.
