While fictional, Donna Freitas began her own career as a competitive gymnast at the age of eight. For many years gymnastics was her life, and required spending upwards of six to eight hours a day after school and on weekends training at the gym. She regularly medaled on beam and floor at the State Championship level, and competed at the Annual Regional Championships with her team. Donna is the author of three young adults novels, The Possibilities of Sainthood, This Gorgeous Game, and most recently, The Survival Kit.
