English Summary/英文概要： Julia walks the same stretch of beach every morning since her husband of forty years walked out on her. Watching the waves, she thinks how easy it would be to walk out into them and never come back. But everything changes the morning that a terrified little girl runs over the sands and pulls Julia down towards the coves. The look in the child’s eyes can only mean one thing.

The body is that of a young man, brutally murdered. The papers are all over it, and of course the victim’s family, the Halls, are devastated – but it soon becomes clear that for this feuding family, the trouble started long ago.

Elizabeth is down from London for the funeral. She’s here for to support boyfriend Davy Hall, a cousin of the victim. But Elizabeth is beginning to wonder just how well she knows Davy… It doesn’t help that the cops are so eager to ‘have a talk’ with him. And it doesn’t help when Davy’s older brother, Tony – attractive, widowed, and on ‘enforced leave’ from the police force – starts to fill her in on the family history.

So when Davy goes missing, the question is, is he running away, is the disappearance something more sinister still? Either way, Elizabeth and Tony have to find him, before it’s too late. Although, for one of them, it may already be ‘too late’…

About the Author/作者介绍： 保罗•肖恩（Paul Shann ）从小生活在利兹，直到参加工作加入电影电视（Film & TV），成为一名技术人员才离开故乡。凭借工作的特殊性和有利性，他游遍了英国。在过去的12年来，他全心全意照顾儿子及家庭起居，做起了家庭主夫。目前他正在着力创作第二部小说《绝对音感》（PERFECT PITCH）。

Paul Shann was born and raised in Leeds, where he attended art college before leaving to work as a technician in Film & TV. His job took him around various parts of Britain and later to the West End as an aerial image cameraman, shooting animation, opticals and effects. For the last twelve years he’s been the full-time carer for his two sons, and lives with and his wife, a secondary school teacher, in Hertforshire. He is currently working on his second novel, PERFECT PITCH.
