Sales Points

Ties in with 6x50’ series to air in early 2012 on BBC 1. The series is the latest from John Downer - the man behind recent successes Lion - Spy in the Den, Tiger - Spy in the Jungle, which attracted 6.5 million viewers (25% market share) in March 2008, and recent success Polar Bear - Spy on the Ice.

The development of new technology used in the programme allows for an entirely fresh angle on the natural history format.

The BBC has an unparalleled pedigree in making documentaries such as this, with a public awareness and respect for the products which translates well into sales - Planet Earth sold over 500,000 copies in hardback alone. Similar titles have performed very well: the Earth From the Air series has sold over 150,000 copies.
