THE SANCTITY OF VENGEANCE
Book ID/图书代码: 05380012B51653
English Summary/英文概要: THE SANCTITY OF VENGEANCE is the first in a planned series of historical thrillers inspired by the life of an infamous samurai warrior, Musashi Miyamoto, in the feudal Japan of the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. Musashi, regarded as one of the finest swordsmen in Japanese history, was a radical thinker as hated as he was admired simply because he believed that the ideal of a samurai should be to live, grow stronger and to better themselves.

His interest in Japanese history was sparked when his father gave him a copy of James Clavell’s Shogun when he was twelve. David studied Media Arts at Royal Holloway, University of London, with a major in screenwriting and wrote his dissertation on samurai cinema as a symbol of modern Japanese masculinity. After graduating in 2008, and realising that the job market in the UK was bleak for people who spend three years interpreting pretend swords as sociological phalluses, he duly fled to Japan to see some cherry blossom and castles for himself. He lives and work in Sendai in the north-east of Japan, teaching English to primary and secondary school pupils.
