For years, she has been harboring not only the secret of her identity, but also the secret of what happened between her and her sister Anne in their fateful, last moments together.
As the popularity of THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK heightens the relevance of the Holocaust and Jewish prejudice, Margie’s carefully constructed American life begins to fall apart. The movie re-opens old wounds, and Margie soon begins to suspect that Peter van Pels might also still be alive and living in Philadelphia. To make matters worse, Margie’s boss, Joshua, whom she harbors a secret crush on, has taken on a case relating to discrimination against Jews. His client is a Holocaust survivor, who sparks vivid memories of Margie’s life fifteen years ago, a world of yellow stars, Nazis, and concentration camp tattoos. The client seems to be able to see right through Margie’s façade.
As Margot’s past and Margie’s present begin to collide, Margie’s American future is at stake, unless she can come to terms with the life she once led, and the things she once did, as Margot Frank.
