Niki Valentine is a pseudonym. Nicola Monaghan (her real name) is the award-winning author of THE KILLING JAR, published in 2006 (by Chatto / Random House here and Scribner in the USA) which won the Betty Trask Award, the Authors’ Club First Novel Award, and the Waverton Good Read. She is currently working on a film adaptation of the book with co-writer Deborah Haywood, as well as various shorter film projects. Her second Monaghan novel was STARFISHING (Chatto UK and Scribner US), ad her third was THE OKINAWA DRAGON, published by Five Leaves. They picked up excellent reviews, and the latter was book of the week on the Independent’s blog in August 2008. She teaches at Nottingham University where she is course leader for the Creative and Professional Writing BA, and she also writes forThe Independent, The Guardian, Marie Claire and The Telegraph Sunday Magazine.
