SUPER BOYS: JERRY SIEGEL, JOE SHUSTER AND THE CREATION OF SUPERMAN
Super Boys will be the first biography of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, two poor kids whose outsider status led them to create the mythic figure that, in some ways, defined the 20th century. This book will explore the creation of Superman through several pathways of history, art and culture, and will radically upset all previous attempts at understanding these two men. What emerges in Super Boys is not just a single sentence that acknowledges Superman’s creators with a slight, perfunctory tip of the hat, but a full narrative of often-heartbreaking loss and sometimes-unbelievable artistic success—and lots and lots of hard work.
(DC)
