INSHA’ALLAH IMPRISONED IN IRAN
Book ID/图书代码: 08166012B53771
English Summary/英文概要: Marcus Hellwig reports on his harrowing imprisonment in an Iranian torture chamber. Reporter Marcus Hellwig and a photographer were arrested in Iran as they were investigating the fate of Sakineh Ashtiani, an Iranian woman who has been sentenced to death by stoning. Politicians and media across the world have condemned her imprisonment as a despotic action by the Iranian terror regime. He was deprived of daylight and sleep; his nerves were strained as his fellow inmates screamed in pain under torture. His tormentors mistreated him during investigations that lasted for hours. Following concerted interventions by Western media and politicians, and 132 days of confinement, Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle was ultimately able to have the reporter and photographer flown back to Germany – and to freedom.
This book is a fascinating account of uncertainty and fear about a desperate situation. What will they do to me? Will I ever see my family or my eight-year-old daughter again? Lengthy conversations with other political prisoners gave Marcus Hellwig deep insight into the political dimension of tyranny.
