THE TWINS
Book ID/图书代码： 07980012B53923
English Summary/英文概要： They were identical in every way. Until the unthinkable tore them apart
Isolte and Viola are twins. As children, they were inseparable, but they have grown into very different adults. Isolte, a successful writer for a fashion magazine with a photographer boyfriend and a central London flat. Yet Viola is desperately unhappy, jobless, anchorless, loveless.
What happened all those years ago to set the twins on such different paths to adulthood? As both young women start to unpick the dramas and tragedies of a half-remembered summer on the English coast, terrifying secrets from the past come rushing back, and threaten to overwhelm their adult lives. Will the struggle to come to terms with the past be liberating, or will each twin be crushed under its weight?
A deeply moving, gripping read, this is a novel about the secrets we all carry with us, and the bonds between twins that can never be broken. It is at the same time an emotional family drama and a psychological, page-turning mystery. Sophisticated, intelligent and commercial, this is a perfect bookclub read – and an astonishing debut.
