Taking enthusiastically to the simple life – growing their own vegetables, tending for their own sheep and making pottery to sell – they are emboldened to bring a child into this new way of life. But their son, Adam, does not share his parents’ ideals and his alienation from Deborah and Howard finally results in a very distant life as a businessman in the City.
Adam’s abandonment of his family, coupled with Howard suffering a stroke and thereby becoming totally dependent on his wife, fosters an incredible sense of disillusionment for Deborah. As life becomes a struggle and she begins to question the choices she has made, a mysterious young man arrives at the house as a bed-and-breakfast guest. Unable to pay his bill, he offers to help out on the farm and slowly integrates himself into Deborah and Howard’s daily routine. But tragedy is waiting to strike – and something happens that will drastically affect every member of this fractured family...
