About the Author/作者介绍： Ruben Meerman 是一位（ABC 催化剂团队）的一位“冲浪科学家”。

Ruben Meerman, the ’surfing scientist’ (ABC Catalyst)
Ruben joined the Catalyst team in 2008 but he has been promoting science on television, radio, at public events and in schools for more than fifteen years. He has appeared on a long list of other ABC television programs including Sleek Geeks, Studio 3, Roller Coaster, The Experimentals and most recently as the resident scientist on Play School.
Ruben’s scientific career began in a laboratory, designing and manufacturing optical coatings for industrial, medical and military laser systems. But his insatiable appetite for new experiences soon lured him out of the lab, back to university and into primary and high school classrooms all over Australia. Since then, he has performed thousands of live science demonstrations in hundreds of schools for kindy kids to year twelve students.
He has taught science education for pre-service primary school teachers, written four children’s science books and continues to publish online science teaching resources for ABC Science.
