About the Author/作者介绍： 柴纳．米耶维（China Mieville）
1972年出生于英格兰的诺里奇（Norwich）， 18岁进入剑桥大学就读社会人类学之前，曾在埃及教了一年英文，因此对阿拉伯文化以及中东政治产生极大兴趣。1995年取得伦敦政经学院的国际关系硕士学位。硕士毕业后，曾于哈佛大学就读，但觉得当地生活过于拘谨，缺乏地下文化，于是又回到伦敦政经学院，后获颁国际法学博士，并于2005年出版博士论文《对等权利之间：国际法的马克思主义理论》。
米耶维也是个积极的政治参与者，2001年曾代表社会主义者联盟（the Socialist Alliance）参选英国下议院议员；也曾在抗议事件中遭到拘捕。也因此他的作品往往弥漫着浓厚的政治批判色彩。
米耶维是「新怪谭」文类的代表文类，作品结合科幻与奇幻，但以真实世界为创作蓝本，关注现实社会议题。他计划在每一个类型都各写一本小说，目前已累积的作品有美国西部小说《Iron Council》、海洋冒险小说《The Scar》、青少年小说《伪伦敦》，以及推理悬疑小说《被谋杀的城市》等。这些作品虽分属不同类型，但皆建构在想象或超自然的时空。

China Mieville lives and works in London. He is three-time winner of the prestigious Arthur C. Clarke Award (Perdido Street Station, Iron Council and The City & The City) and has also won the British Fantasy Award twice (Perdido Street Station and The Scar). The City & The City, an existential thriller, was published in 2009 to dazzling critical acclaim and drew comparison with the works of Kafka and Orwell (The Times) and Philip K. Dick (Guardian).
