Alex Zhavoronkov, PhD, is the director and trustee of the Biogerontology Research Foundation, a UK-based think tank supporting aging research worldwide. He founded the International Aging Research Portfolio (IARP), an initiative with a mission to help scientists and policy makers develop a road map in natural, social and behavioral sciences to extend healthy working life in the elderly. Before pursuing academic interests in aging research, Dr. Zhavoronkov held management positions with large publicly-traded multinational corporations and served as the director of reputable IT and biotechnology companies, including ATI Technologies, GTCBio, Mediox, Colby Pharmaceutical Company, General Nano Optics and NeuroG. He is involved with several initiatives with a mission to improve senior productivity and extend health span, including the World Federation for Regenerative Medicine and the European Federation for Regenerative Medicine. Dr. Zhavoronkov holds two bachelor degrees from Queen’s University, a Masters in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University and a PhD in Biophysics from Moscow State University.
