Every other child on the train she journeyed on to the death camp was killed. She eventually discovered her beloved father and brother had been killed, but only after Eva and her mother had spent many months after liberation trawling through the displaced persons camps across Europe, hoping against hope that they might have survived.
Eva’s mother later married Anne Frank’s father Otto, after they both lost their spouses in the Holocaust. Eva was exceptionally close to her step-father and he later gave her the Leica camera he had used to take the iconic images of Anne. Eva watched first-hand as Anne’s diary became an international phenomenon and has worked tirelessly for the Anne Frank Foundation for decades.
Eva’s story is a compelling first person account that brings out the full horror, prejudice, loss - and occasionally the humanity - experienced by ordinary people during the Holocaust.

She co-founded The Anne Frank Trust to perpetuate Anne and her step-father Otto’s legacy. She was awarded an MBE in this year’s New Years Honours for her work in schools, educating children on the perils of intolerance. Eva is the author of EVA’S STORY and THE PROMISE.
