Book ID/图书代码: 04122012B58490
English Summary/英文概要: Most people’s diets are woefully inadequate for providing proper nutrition. Even good diets fail to deliver sufficient levels of nutrients. The Vitamin Cure book series highlights the safe and clinically effective use of vitamin supplements for a variety of illnesses.
Research continues to prove the immense value of vitamins for maintaining health and fighting disease. The Vitamin Cure books, written by authors who are recognized experts in their field, deliver authoritative, up-to-date, and practical information on taking vitamins for particular health problems. A healthy diet can have a profound impact on a child’s development and growth, helping him or her stay well and avoid illness.
This book is a practical guide to using therapeutic nutrition for a number of common childhood illnesses that can be prevented and effectively treated with vitamins and other nutrients. The Vitamin Cure for Children’s Health Problems introduces readers to the concept of orthomolecular medicine to take control of their family’s health.
It covers the pros and cons of antibiotics and vaccinations and looks at natural ways to boost immune function. Information on healthy eating for children is thoroughly covered, as are ways to protect children from a toxic environment. The book also tackles three of the most pressing health issues for children: obesity and diabetes, allergies and asthma, and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Finally, it provides guidance on using therapeutic doses of vitamin C and other nutrients. The good news is that therapeutic nutrition is cheap, simple, effective, and safe.

Awards/获奖情况:I know the authors of this book (disclosure), and I have tremendous respect for their knowledge of nutrition and children’s health. The book provides many answers and clear guidance for parents who have difficulty navigating the often confusing nutrition and health advice for their children. Dr. Campbell is a seasoned pediatrician who has seen children change and and medicine’s treatment of children change over many decades. For example, antibiotics can save a child’s life, but these drugs are now overprescribed and compromise children’s health in numerous ways. (Antibiotics actually depress immune function and destroy beneficial bacteria in the gut, leading to digestive disorders and likely setting the stage for allergies and obesity.)
Why the book’s focus on nutrition? Nutrients form the building blocks of our entire biochemistry. When a child (or adult, for that matter) has nutritional deficiencies or exposure to artificial chemicals, his biochemistry functions at subpar levels, affecting physical health, susceptibility to infection, moods, and cognitive development. Children are far more sensitive to these imbalances because of their faster growth rate and metabolism.
The book addresses many important issues relative to children’s health, including our increasing toxic environment, the phenomenal increase in childhood obesity and type 2 diabetes (once a disease of adults), allergies, asthma, and ADHD. It recommends ways to improve eating habits and provides supplement recommendations for children. I highly recommend this book.
