English Summary/英文概要： Heart Stones is a novel about secrets. Set in contemporary Ireland the story is intertwined with one set in the socially repressive Ireland of the 1940’s. In both past and present it seems that everybody has something to hide.When Phoebe Brennan’s married lover dies in a car accident she dare not openly express her grief for fear of their affair being found out.
Heart broken she leaves her life in England to rediscover the only place she remembers feeling truly happy – a picturesque boathouse on the West Coast of Ireland bequeathed to her by her grandmother.
It’s been over twenty years since Phoebe has visited the boat house and she expects to find it in a dilapidated condition. Instead it has been mysteriously well maintained and her grandmother’s possessions kept in an almost shrine-like state.
Phoebe has imagined she’ll spend her time walking on the empty beaches and cliff tops but soon she is swept up by life in the nearby village of Carraigmore. Phoebe takes a job working in the village pub where it seems much easier to let her new friends believe that she is a grieving widow rather than a grieving mistress. As she becomes drawn towards a local potter, whose wife has recently died, her secret becomes increasingly hard to hide.
Meanwhile she discovers a collection of her grandmother’s old diaries hidden beneath the boat house floorboards and she becomes immersed in a story of family scandal, repressed sexuality and a passionate affair between her grandmother and a young Irish artist.
As Phoebe tries to piece together the truth about her grandmother’s past she begins to realise that the repercussions of what happened all those years before have shaped not only her own life but the lives of those in the small community around her. With many questions unanswered Phoebe sets out to find out more but it seems that no one in Carraigmore is quite telling her the truth.
As Phoebe’s own secret about her relationship with David is inadvertently revealed other secrets in the village are rapidly unravelling and soon another discovery in the boathouse will change Phoebe’s life forever.

About the Author/作者介绍： Kitty 畢業於時裝設計學院，先在紡織行業工作一段時間，後來轉變成陶瓷設計師。她的作品在世界各地的陶瓷商店和展覽館出售。威爾士王子，瑪當娜，Roger Daltry和 Robbie Williams。除此之外，Kitty還一直追尋著寫作夢想。她從8歲開始就寫作，雖然屢遭挫折，但仍然堅持，直到能將自己的書出版。她的第一本書《A Perfect Home》2012年出版，是根據自己的經歷描寫的。《Heartstones》是她的第二本小說。
Kitty Glanville lives with her family in rural West Wales. She’s a ceramics artist whose tiles and tableware have been sold in shops and galleries all over the world. A Perfect Home, her debut novel, was inspired by her experience having her own house featured in several magazines.
