THE BORGIAS: THE HIDDEN HISTORY

This enlightening book is about the most infamous family of the Italian Renaissance --here in every colorful detail is the real story of the Borgias and their indelible, tumultuous world, written by the gifted author of the acclaimed WORLD UNDONE: The Story of the Great War and THE TUDORS.

The Tudors netted almost 39,000 copies in hardcover and 54,000 in trade paperback and sold 10,000 eBooks. With an equally sweeping scope, a controversial premise, and lavish illustrations, The Borgias should match or surpass that performance. With Showtime’s The Borgias big success here in the States and whose third season will soon air here it is most likely to be equally successful overseas and thus the timing of this book should be made available to further the insatiable appetite for the interest in this outrageous piece of history.

While most historical and literary interpretations paint the Borgias as utterly amoral and ruthless, Meyer has a radically different take. Backing up his case with ample evidence, he shows us that rumors of their infamy have been greatly exaggerated, and that their legacy was in many ways beneficial.

Embraced by reviewers and readers alike, Meyer’s books combine fresh, personality-driven, immensely readable history with authoritative research and fascinating "Background" sections that open up key story elements. His previous books brought new readers and insight to seemingly well-covered subjects. The Borgias and Renaissance Italy offer Meyer’s richest focus yet.

Chinese Summary/

(LNL)
