NADAR DESNUDAS (SWIM NAKED)
Book ID/图书代码: 10890013B60226
English Summary/英文概要: Sophie and Morgana meet in Santiago, Chile, at the beginning of the Seventies. Theirs is a vital meeting written by destiny, of the type that changes a life forever.
An idyll that is destined to be interrupted by Diego, the young, charming father of Sophie. A man deeply trusted by Allende, Diego starts a forbidden and secret relationship with Morgana, which is a passion that at times borders on Love. But Sophie, unable to accept the betrayal of the only persons ever loved, finds refuge in Paris, and with the terrible deaths of Diego and Morgana at the hands of Pinochet’s killers, all dialogue and forgiveness seem to be put forever out of reach.
Seemingly providing an ending without deliverance, Nadar desnudas gives space to a second epilogue, as in all well-conceived stories: an imperfect possibility of redemption that, after thirty years, can perhaps bring an end to the feelings of guilt.

Awards/获奖情况:"As Carla Guelfenbein demonstrates in this intricately woven novel, the pursuit of individual fulfilment and happiness can lead ineluctably to tragedy. Subtle, clear-sighted, and compassionate" - J.M Coetzee on El resto es Silencio

Back to her native country, she worked as fashion editor for the magazine ELLE, until she decided to become a full-time novelist and screenwriter. After a successful first novel, El revés de l’alma (2002), she wrote La mujer de mi vida (2005), a top bestseller for several weeks in Chile, published in Italy by the prestigious Einaudi and translated into 12 languages. It tells a story of loss and friendship between Clara, Antonio and Theo through different voices and points of view, against the background of 80’s London and today’s Chile.
Her subsequent novel, El resto es silencio (2008), has been a huge success worldwide and it is available for consideration also in English, in the beautiful translation for the UK Portobello Books edition. It is a touching story about relationships and the importance of words, which sometimes build walls instead of bridges.
