THE MIRROR
Who are we really? Are we true reflections of ourselves, or what others see of us? We may turn out not to be people, after all, but only their reflections. And it is not we who approach a mirror, but it is the reflection of someone unknown who approaches us from the other side...
The Mirror is the story of an intimate and obsessive connection that grows between a young nun who is forced to sit for a much older, Hungarian painter. Set during the Renaissance, the story takes place entirely inside a Venetian convent and the complex relationships within it create a labyrinth of desire and surveillance.
Chinese Summary/
(Sandy)
Two utterly original and compelling novellas about art and devotion, both master classes in voice and character.
About the Author/
Richard Skinner was of course tutor to both S. J. Watson and Rachel Joyce with his Faber Academy hat on - this work definitely showcases why he’s been able to bring out such incredible work in both, as well as many more creative writing students.
