As governments judge universities on new criteria - including the ’impact’ they have - and as universities are driven to search for finance from new sources, those that run universities are increasingly looking to exploit the intellectual property created by their researchers to help deliver this impact and income. He was also Chairman of IP2IPO Group Plc, the company resulting from his deal with Beeson Gregory Ltd., and itself now the publicly quoted company, IP Group Plc, with similar arrangements involving a range of other universities, in which company he is senior non-executive director.
