The collection will include The Accidental Universe, which was published in January 2012 by Harper’s Magazine. It has been chosen for the Best Essays of 2012, and cited in the New York Times by David Brooks, who singled it out as one of the "best -of-the-year-in-writing."

About the Author/作者介绍： 埃兰•莱特曼出生于田纳西州孟菲斯市，曾就读于普林斯顿大学与加利福尼亚科究所，并于加州科研所获得其理论物理博士学位。二十年来，他一直积极从事天文学和物理学研究，并于哈佛及麻省理工教授该两门学科相关课程。

Alan Lightman was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and educated at Princeton and at the California Institute of Technology, where he recived a Ph.D. in theoretical physics. An active research scientist in astronomy and physics for two decades, he has also taught both subjects for the faculties of Harvard and MIT.
His novels include Einstein’s Dreams, which was an international bestseller; Good Benito; The Diagnosis, which was a finalist for the National Book Award; and Reunion. His essays have appeared in the New York Review of Books, the New York Times, Nature, The Atlantic Monthly, and the New Yorker, among other publications.
He lives in Massachusetts, where he is adjunct professor of humanities at MIT.
