About the Author/作者介绍： 安娜•迈奎恩出生在爱尔兰古城堡岛附近的一个小镇里。她的父亲在一个小型奶牛场里长大。安娜的闲暇时光都是在那里度过的，她经常帮助爸爸挤牛奶和做饲料。大学毕业后，她一边从事英语教师的工作，一边攻读儿童文学的硕士学位。在20世纪80年代末期，她前往英国，在一家儿童出版社担任编辑工作。从那以后，她编写了几百本童书。

Anna McQuinn has been working in children’s publishing since 1988, as an editor, publisher and author. She has a BA in English and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education, specializing in children’s literature. She grew up in the West of Ireland, which inspired the Glenmore Valley series.Ireland has a generalist system of education, so in secondary school Anna studied a wide range of subjects. For her Leaving Certificate (similar to A level) she took exams in English, Irish, French, Chemistry, Biology, Maths & Art History (having dropped the O level Latin, History and Geography). Little did she know how well this wide range would prepare her for working in the wonderful world of Children’s publishing. After secondary school, Anna went to University College Cork and studied English, Irish, History and Philosophy. After completing my BA, I did a post-graduate diploma in Education, specialising in Children’s Literature. I taught English for a few years before returning to UCC to read for an MA in the Gothic Novel. In 1988, Anna left Ireland for the UK and has been working in children’s publishing ever since, as an editor, publisher and writer.
