About the Author/作者介绍： 美国当代作家。
1952 年生于美国俄亥俄州的辛辛那提市。在加州的帕莎迪纳长大，大学时在加州斯坦福大学主修英国文学，毕业后拿到 Michener Fellowship 奖学金，接着在艾奥瓦州立大学读艺术创作硕士。硕士期间曾在《亚特兰大月刊》（Atlantic Monthly）与《巴黎月刊》（Paris Review）上登过文章。
现居住在纽约市，并在美国麻州普文斯镇（Provincetown）艺术工作中心（Fine Arts Work Center）与布鲁克林学院（Brooklyn College）任教。
虽然坎宁安是同性恋者，亦与同性伴侣同居十年以上，但他希望他不会‘只是’一个“同性恋作家”，而希望所有人都能欣赏他的作品。Michael Cunningham is the author of the novels A Home at the End of the World, Flesh and Blood, The Hours (winner of the Pen/Faulkner Award & Pulitzer Prize), Specimen Days, and By Nightfall, as well as the non-fiction book, Land’s End: A Walk in Provincetown.
