Now here’s the problem: The majority of working people are unengaged or actively disengaged from their work. According to Gallup, it’s 70 percent, and if you factor out leaders and managers, the number of disengaged approaches 80 percent. That means leaders have failed to motivate and inspire more than seven out of ten of their workers.
Leaders know this, and it pains them. That’s why they say that the job to be done now is to capture the hearts and minds of their people. It’s the biggest job they have to do, but they don’t know how to do it.
