Book ID/图书代码: 06840014B67840
English Summary/英文概要: What would you do if you were losing your vision? Today, over 36 million Americans face that frightening prospect as their eyesight deteriorates due to diseases such as macular degeneration, cataracts, or glaucoma. Studies show that number will grow exponentially in the next decade as the number of Americans over the age of 60 doubles.Ophthalmologist Neal Adams sees these people every day, many of whom ask him if there is anything pills, vitamins, exercises, anything they can do to regain control of their sight. “Should I eat carrots?” they ask. After hearing that question over and over again, Dr. Adams decided to look for a book that explained the clinically proven link between eating nutrientrich foods and eye health. To his surprise, there wasn’t one available—so he decided to write it.
Better Nutrition for Healthy Vision: How the Foods You Eat Can Prevent and Reverse Eye Disease explains how readers can improve their vision without a prescription or surgery. In the past decade, an overwhelming number of clinical studies have shown that eating specific nutrients can help maintain vision well into old age, alleviate eye conditions, and even reverse the progress of diseases. Within these pages, Dr. Adams delivers tailored, easytounderstand advice for the millions of people worried about their vision, going into specific detail as to which foods and nutrients will combat damage and illness.
The statistics speak for themselves:
• Macular degeneration is expected to affect roughly 75 million people in the next decade.
• Cataracts currently affect 44% of adults over 55 in the United States.
• 180 million Americans suffer from vision impairments, such as needing to wear glasses and/or routinely experiencing chronic dry eye.
• Diabetes, now an “epidemic” due to increasing obesity, includes risk of diabetic retinopathy, a leading cause of blindness in American adults.
The time is now for Better Nutrition for Healthy Vision, the only book that delivers hope by showing readers how they can be proactive to preserve their
vision.
