English Summary/英文概要: How would it feel if you came across yourself in a novel? It is unmistakably you. Worse, it is about something you have never told anyone – anyone living that is.
When Catherine starts reading The Perfect Stranger by E. J. Preston she is like any other avid reader, stimulated by the dark undertones, engrossed but not threatened. So on turning the pages Catherine is sickened to find herself written into the story, reincarnated from twenty years ago. There, described in vivid and awful detail, is a day that she has chosen to forget and a role she has never admitted to. A truth too big for her family to survive. What can you do but read on, panicked and sweating, horrified by the repercussions, desperate for answers as to who the author is and what they want. Then like a sledgehammer to your chest you come up against the ending. Your death.
Catherine has never met Stephen. But Stephen knows all about Catherine. Most importantly he knows the details of her most closely guarded secret. One kept for twenty years, tucked carefully out of reach of the benevolent love of her husband and the frustrated hopes of her son. But Stephen has found her secret, nurtured it and breathed life into it. Now he is going to carefully and deliberately expose both it and her and extract the ultimate revenge.
‘Such a pity she hadn’t realised that doing nothing would be such a deadly omission.’
