Ani is fifteen and lives on a council estate in Cambridge and loves nothing better than spending hours on her computer hacking into places she’s not supposed to go. Joe, on the other hand, is seventeen and a child operative in an experimental wing of the UK security services.

When Ani comes across a highly encripted .wav (sound) file she uncovers a very real danger which forces her to go on the run. Meanwhile Joe is on a mission to infiltrate a new music cult attracting Britain’s brightest teenage brains, X-Core.

Joe and Ani meet at a gig after she discovers the .wav file has a dangerous and addictive power and is present in all X-Core songs. Together they must work out how to stop the .wav before it’s too late - but how do you stop a sound?
