Basically it’s about a young girl Aoife who finds out that she is a changeling and goes to the Underworld (Tir na nOg) – taking Shay the boy she has a crush on, with her. They meet changelings and a variety of other mythical creatures, and succeed in finding Eva, the little girl Aoife was ‘changed’ for. They bring her back to the real world and the story culminates in a very emotional finale, as their earth families think they have been lost forever. Both the real world, the underworld and the journeys to and fro are brilliantly described and written, evoking the different locations with great atmosphere and sense of place. It is an emotional roller coaster of family, friendship and start-crossed lovers. And yet it doesn’t take itself too seriously...
