English Summary/英文概要： There is no fish in Gamasiab, starts in a village in the forest where a teenage boy named Jafar, disgusted by the cruelty of the village lords joins the rebel forces on the verge of the 79’ Islamic revolution. During the eight year war (Iraq-Iran), he develops into a mature and experienced commander which along with his duties in the war, treasures a deep passion and hopes for peace in his head and in his heart.
On the other hand we encounter Puran, a lively woman consumed by worrying about her husband and son’s probable death in the war. Her husband is a dutiful man not quitting his work even in the harshest bombardment and eventually leaves to join the armed soldiers on the frontline.
The third story of There is no fish in Gamasiab, is that of a girl named Susan. She belongs to an opposition group organizing armed attacks against Iran, yet she objects to their clan’s ideas and thus faces many ordeals and challenges.
The destinies of these three characters build up to an exquisite climax, joining classically in the end of the story. Stories of love, patriotism, devotion to personal beliefs and social conflicts hiding behind the revolution, war and political misfortunes are all masterfully depicted in this novel. The protagonists face each other in an impressive contrast, a contrast which is one of the main strong features of the book granting the readers a chance to observe and appreciate human emotions amid historical revolts.

About the Author/作者介绍： 哈米德·伊斯米莱恩于1976年出生在伊朗克尔曼沙阿。他是一位牙医，同时也是一位新锐作家。哈米德的处女作赢得了2008年胡桑·格士利最佳短篇小说集奖项，并被再版了5次。他的第二及第三部作品也引起了伊朗读者和相关人士的绝对重视。哈米德的最新作品《加曼斯波湖里没有鱼》是他的第二部小说，在伊朗广受好评。
哈米德于2010年与妻女移民加拿大。目前的职业是牙医，并同时筹备自己的下一新作。
Hamed Esmaeilion Was born in 1976 in Kermanshah, Iran. He is a dentist and a newly acclaimed writer. His first book Marjoram is not Pretty won the “Houshang Golshiri Award” as the best short stories collection of the year in 2008 and it has been reprinted five times so far. His second and third books raised the attention of Iranian readers and critics.
His most recent book- that is his second novel- There is no Fish in Gamasiab has been widely admired in Iran.
Esmaeilion immigrated to Canada in 2010 with his wife and daughter. He works as a dentist there while writing his next book.
