About the Author/作者介绍： 加雷斯·布鲁克斯曾在皇家艺术学院学习版画复制。为了调剂一下枯燥的艺术实践，加雷斯开始画漫画，后来就一发不可收拾了。很多他自己的出版刊物都是其亲手制作的，他使用的材料包括刺绣、纺织物、胶刻打印、镂花涂装、甚至还有折花。2012年，加雷斯凭借《黑色项目》赢得了第一届图画小说比赛。这部暗黑漫画小说中也同样运用到了胶刻打印和刺绣，就如同漫画中的主人公理查德，一个喜欢用手边的材料做“女朋友”的男孩一样。

Gareth Brookes studied Printmaking at The Royal College of Art. He started making comics as an amusing antidote to his art practice and within a very short time found they had completely taken over. Known for his unusual approach to materials he has used embroidery, textiles, lino-cut print, stenciling and even pressed flowers in his work and much of his self published output is handmade.

In 2012 he was the winner of the First Graphic Novel Competition, with an extract from his graphic novel The Black Project. This darkly comic tale lovingly executed in linocut relief print and embroidery, follows the distasteful hobby of Richard, a boy who makes ’girlfriends’ from found objects.
