This has proven to be an invaluable resource for me in my current position as a technology integration specialist. Also, it will help me even more as I transition to the role of technology coordinator for the entire school next fall. It should be required reading for all administrators, since, as the the book mentions, the technology coordinator position (and title) varies greatly from school to school, district to district. Most administrators lack a clear understanding or vision of what the position should or could be. This book is a great resource for helping to bring clarity to that vision. It covers pretty much all of the possible areas a tech coordinator could be responsible for (teaching and learning, end-user support, planning and budgeting, network operations, administrative computing).
One of my few complaints about the book is that even though it’s an updated version of the original, some references and examples already feel outdated. The first edition was released in 2004, and this second one in 2012. Given the nature of the tech industry, 2 years is a lifetime for some products and tools. Still, as I mentioned before, the book is a great resource.
