Alex Brunkhorst is a novelist, real estate broker, and the founder of the luxury real estate site Bungalux. Alex has represented many of Los Angeles’s celebrities in their real estate transactions.
The tiny seed of the idea for this book came from observing the rarefied world of luxury in Los Angeles: the ultimate goal of wealth was, as it turned out, isolation. Wealth bought private planes, private tennis courts, private islands, private screening rooms, houses on vast grounds surrounded by guards, drivers who drove SUVs with tinted windows, and, yes, even private bowling alleys. The story of Thomas and Matilda came out of the hope that two people could connect on an emotional level in a world that is often lonely and isolated.
